Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
The cold & dark may have put some people off exercise but not our Southwark GG-ers. 6 runners took on the challenge to deliver leaflets all around Peckham for LinkAge Southwark.
A chilly night but unsure whether it justified full winter gear. we met at Old Spike. General consensus was to hold a few layers back for January when it gets properly cold. We also discussed how early is too early for a Christmas Tree to go up.
Remember remember 6th November... fairy lights, tinsel and trees...
We set off to warm up slightly divided in opinion but unified in our intention... a bit of high knees and woodchopping and we split down into 2 groups.
LinkAge are looking to get more volunteers involved in supporting the work they do with the elderly in Southwark. At the moment, they're really based in Dulwich but would like to get residents of Peckham involved which is where GoodGym came in... we flyered leaflets all around Peckham.
Always respect the no junk sign
Some brilliant halloween decorations and some very creaky garden gates and we were happy with our task. We got through it in no time and everyone met up at the Roastery for Ab Time.
Off we jogged, down to a different bit of the Rye to usual... 2 1/2 minutes - 3 sprints and the rest of the time planking... 3 times! If anyone had cooled down post-leaflet delivery, they weren't by now.
Once through the planking (focus on 10 seconds at a time... breath, quick pause and reset...) we did a mini round to emulate fireworks... it takes some imagination...
Bicycle crunches, x-jumps and triple ab moves...
Christmas can come early now, we've earned those mince pies.
With Great British Bake Off over, we had time for a quick one at The Rye and discussed coach running, I'm a celebrity and the north south divide. Join us next time!
