Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
41 people ran 5k, cleared 2 gardens, searched for cones around Regents Park in the dark and celebrated GoodGym Camden's 2nd birthday.
118 Group Runs
Yup- it's been pretty amazing 2 years really. We've had some nice times (like lifting turf onto a roof, wheel barrowing through a nature reserve and filling up a compost rocket), and some not so nice times (like running up Primrose Hill to lifting some horrible things at a Squat) but they've all been memorable.
Tonight was no exception- we covered well over 6k helping out in the gardens of too great community groups. One group ran to Clean Break a group who use theatre to change the lives of women who have gone through the criminal justice system. The others ran to Somers Town to help Jon and the St Mary's Flats community gardening group.
510 Runners have come along to a run with GG Camden
Blimey- 41 of those people came along last night (shame the other 469 couldn't make it). With 41 people the two tasks were fairly simple- Jon had a few plants he needed planting and a big pile of woodchip to shift, while the group at Clean Break went along and tidied their communal paved area. We went for it - and in just over 30mins both gardens were looking much fancier.
132 members doing 1912 'good deeds'.
Coooooor. In fact 1912 is was almost the same number of meters both groups ran from their tasks to meet up in Regents Park. When we got there we played the world's most complicated running, cone, exercise, sticker game (copyright Shaun Dixon). With the help of a pretty rudimentary map teams ran round collecting stickers hidden underneath cones scattered around Regents Park....all while performing a variety of exercises! Sounds complicated? Yup....and wait till you see the maps (they were mostly drawn in biro). Anyway it was a bit of fun- and everyone got to perform a few exercises and get involved with a few sprints.
We have had 2295 'runs' logged on Group Runs alone
Amazing- to celebrate we all ran home as a group together (though some guys did leg it back all the way to the centre).
2344 post run pints consumed.
After a quick stretch we headed to Somers Town Coffee House for a celebratory drink and a slice of cake. Thanks to Beth for the delicious cake (Elvis' favourite no less) and to Sophie for her brownies (she raised £65.74 for for a local Scout group and Southwark foodbank).
Lots of love
