What are you doing on 3rd August? Coming to the GoodGym Olympics is what! Think sports day meets bakeoff meets all-round GoodGym celebration. It'll be my last Olympics as Southwark trainer :( Tom Benson has put together this incredible document all about it. Use the google form on it to sign up for an event - so far we've got entrants for the bucket stilts race, 4 x 400m (we need more people), 800m, 5km.
Next week we're cleaning and greening at Galleywall Nature Reserve. It's a really special space and it's a 7km run overall. Find out more and sign up here.
Community mission alert! GoodGym x The Great Get Together is on 22nd June - Bankside Open Spaces Trust are throwing a massive street party on Bankside for this years Great Get Together and they need some help setting it up!
That's enough of the business
Last night we ran 10km overall to Upmarket Charity shop where we rubbed down and gave the shutters a coat of paint last week. The plan this week was to do another coat but the weather was awful so Pauline ushered inside once we arrived and put us to work in three groups:
Rubbing down and painting the inside shutters in the back room
Cleaning the windows
Sorting and organising the shop floor
Up Market is currently the only registered charity shop in the Rotherhithe area. What separates Upmarket from other charities is that they raise money for the local community hence their moto 'from the community, back to the community'. Since Up Market has been open it has become a focal point of the community. You can find out more about the shop here. At the moment they're getting ready for their 7th birthday in July so our help sprucing up is much appreciated! By the end of our visit we we had organised most of the hangers on the shop floor, the bag display and the bookshelves. Great work everyone!
Shout out to Ellie who joined us for her first GoodGym group run this week - we hope to see you again soon!
Not only did we get loads done, but we ran 5km each way very swiftly - super impressive running everyone!
See you next week :)
