Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
It was a typical dark and wet February morning when we set out from homes to head to Chipping Sodbury Parkrun. This is furthest parkrun from the center of Bristol on our tour, in fact it was a 15 mile bike ride for me (Gary) and Caroline.
All was well for the first half of the ride until I managed to get a puncture. Thankfully a small piece of glass is no match to the Goodgym spirit and after some tyre lever magic we were back on our way. We arrived at 9am, just as the pre-run speech was taking place. Dave was there already waiting and helped us speedily lock the bikes, get changed and head to the start line. We managed to get there just as the run leader yelled 'GO!'
Chipping Sodbury parkrun is three laps of the rugby/football fields. It had a really friendly and relaxed vibe to it and we all had a great time. Dave and Caroline ran together and had a friendly chinwag until the end when Caroline got serious and raced past Dave to finish ahead of him. I came in 18th, 1st for my age group, which was nice. Today was the 100th parkrun at Chipping Sodbury so we all celebrated with cupcakes, rocky road and bananas at the finish. Check out the run here
After a quick refuel and change of clothes (again) all three of us jumped on our bikes and headed back into town for a Goodgym task up in Horfield common. We can all be very proud of our massive Saturday session totaling 30 miles of cycling, over 8 miles of running and nearly an hour of pallet deconstruction. It was a pretty unconventional triathlon so pats on the back all round!
We've got loads of fun races coming up that it would be great to see you at:-
28th February - Tyntesfield 10k
12th March - Ashton Court - Parkrun tour
20th March - Forest of Dean Half Marathon
