Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Ellie (She/her)
On a glorious sunny Southampton evening we were able to support Friends of Peartree Green for the first time. We began clearing a community wild space of brambles and prepared a new wild flower bed for local residents to enjoy. Helen, Sarah and Wilson got to work taming the brambles which was no easy task, but those thorns were no match for dream team (and some sharp secateurs)!
We welcomed Hannah to her first session who had eagerly been awaiting the launch of Southampton GoodGym. She got stuck right in weeding and turning over the new wild flower bed with me. We hope she’ll be coming back to join us again very soon. After a quick sweep of the path and a good water the bed is all ready for residents to plant the seeds. We hope to see the results in a few months.
Many hands meant the garden bin was soon filled up and it was time to go. We’ll have to make another trip when the bin has been emptied! We will all be very pleased to go back as we finished off with ice creams and watermelon which was very refreshing :)
