Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
Absolutely belting to see so many GoodGym faces back again for our newly-returned group runs!
We started outside the BAC for a warm up, and the return of the silly group run question of the week. Last night we asked which Olympic sport - real of imaginary - would you choose? The answers did not disappoint - unicorn dressage, competitive sushi eating and even prosecco pong. That's an Olympics I'd pay good money to watch!
We had a nice short run down to Banana Park for a quick fire fitness session featuring lunges, squats, planks and mountain climbers, before popping across the road to meet Hadas and Rob from Waste Not Want Not.
Our task tonight was to prep and plant flowers that had been donated from Wimbledon to local charities after the tennis had finished. After a briefing from Rob, who has been involved in the Chelsea Flower Show, we got to work. There were some, er, interesting discoveries as we started clearing the ground, including some stinky old takeaway, many potatoes and even an escaping mouse. That didn't deter the team, and before long the ground was ready for some beautifying. Under strict instruction on where to plant, we began making a home for several hydrangeas, lavender plants, ferns and more. Before long, the area was looking stunning and people passing by from Clapham Junction will be able to enjoy it going forward.
It really was testament to what we can achieve over the course of one short group run, and reminded me of one of the very early GG videos. What an amazing transformation!
Next week we'll have a special run celebrating two big milestones and a social afterwards - it will be listed very shortly so watch this space!
