With a lack of our consistent Parkrun PB-ers we were lacking news this week... However we were very excited to head to a new Brighton venue for this week's task

The weather had taken a drop in temperature this week so we took to a bit of up hill running to warm us up. And up we ran to St Luke's Church, a community hub where a local LGBTQ+ choir and an orchestra comprising of recovering alcoholics practise weekly. The church also hosts the Real Junk Food Project, where food is collected from supermarkets that is about to be thrown away and cooked up for people to pay what they feel it is worth.

Once we reached St Lukes (and found Sherman who had to move his car because of pesky traffic wardens) we met Rev Martin and Church Warden Jessie who showed us to the church's inner garden. Rev Martin had rescued a discarded mauring rope from Brighton beach to layout beds in the garden and we set to work clearing them so they are ready for planting in the Spring.

With many hands makes light work and we managed to clear several bags of green waste in 30 minutes! The cold certainly got us working hard!

With the promise of a future task at St Lukes based on how well we had done, we ran on through the Brighton Greenway and stopped off to get a bit of fitness in using some of the New England Quarter steps: Concentrating on form we attacked the steps with high knees and hammering elbows.

With time drawing to a close we headed back through the North Laines of Brighton planning a possible Christmas (yes the "C" word") outing in December. Full details to follow but for now ave the date Thursday 6th December!

(Big thanks to Helena for writing the report and to Sherman for all the good photos!)

Like many churches in Brighton St Luke's provides so much more than a place of worship. They host the fantastic Real Junk Food Cafe, a parent/toddler group, an orchestra for people recovering from substance and alcohol misuse and an LGBTQ+ choir.
