Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Roy Hill
6 of us met Pippa and her lovely labrador near the entrance of St Anne’s Well Park, including Corie who we welcomed on her very first mission – sounds like Helena did a good job of preaching the gospel of GG to her when they were work colleagues!
Our mission tonight was to empty and tidy a shed belonging to the Friends of St Anne’s Well Park. Pretty straightforward stuff, you might be thinking. But our evening quickly turned in to a very low budget version of the Crystal Maze, as we couldn’t unlock the shed door from the outside. Jacob showed some keen breaking and entering skills, and managed to squeeze himself through the window, then had to jimmy (I think that’s the term used by master burglars) open the door from the inside, all the while knowing the clock was ticking on our 1-hour challenge.
With the door opened, we quickly emptied the shed, chucked away a fair few random old bits of gazebo and items from various past events, cleaned up some of the charity collection buckets, gave the shed a good sweep and re-stocked it, much to Pippa’s delight. And in the end we managed it with 5 minutes to spare! A job well done.
We aim to promote the preservation, restoration, and improvement of St Anns Well Gardens for the education and benefit of the public, by associating the local authority and local community in a common effort to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occuation with the object of improving the lives of local inhabitants.
