A beautiful day, a sunshine filled walk, and a quick pop in to the shop for Mr M's Saturday chicken and newspaper.
As a reward for being so well behaved, the dogs get to frolic through a green space. Here it was that we met a lovely lady, catching her breath after having a blood test at our nearby hospital.
She was taken by the dogs antics, so we stopped to have a chat. We were going the same way, so walked slowly, finding things in common and putting the world to rights.
As it happens, we pass by her house every Saturday. A well kept, pretty semi-detached house, where she has lived since her wedding night, 54 years ago. Promising to give a wave when next we passed, we carried on to see Mr M.
As the weather was warm and dry, he was looking forward to a short walk to the top of the road, to get a breath of fresh air, and a little exercise.
After our usual catch up, and armed with next week's shopping list, we set off for a walk home along the canal.
There are so many lovely, but lonely people right on our doorstep. Hopefully, our offers of support have gone some small way to make them feel less alone.
