Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Time for the lids on the white paint tins to be popped off again
At the start of the evening we welcomed our newest runner Kathy, as well as informed the group of the New Balance + GoodGym #USEYOURRUN campaign sweeping the nation. Check the GGNewham cameo HERE. Look at all those smiles!!
We made our way to Wanstead Flats sports pavilion taking a couple of the runners across new territory through the Olympic park is always good fun. James had already prepped the space for us, we just had to pick a section of the corridor and get going. Tentative at first, some of the first time painters in the space realised it wasn’t as easy as painting on smooth plastered walls or last weeks murals. This uneven, breeze block filled corridor demands more attention. So we gave it.
10mins in and Ros, fresh from dishing out a ‘nice hole’ compliment at Hackney told me my crevices were looking pretty good as I worked paint into the nooks and crannies. Thanks Ros haha.
'Your on a roll'
My ambitious hopes of finishing the entire corridor faded slightly, as we had to go back over some of the walls we covered earlier this year which had been muddied again most likely by the eager young footballers the pavilion hosts. But it’s all good, we still made good progress.
On the return journey it was time for the 1km challenge. Timed 1km runs in the most open part of the route which everyone will have to beat at a later date. Sceptical looks and fidgeting bodies. We staggered our starts …3…2…1….GO Everyone came in at the times we set if not quicker, especially the first group who took over a minute off the time we discussed (apologies for my little white lie, it was for the greater good). That’s the grit and determination we’re talking about. Good job guys
Same time next week as we head to Forest Gate
