Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bristol runner
Feeling a little jaded from yesterday's group task, I bizarrely agreed to meet Charlie at the top of Victoria Park to run down into Bedminster to Ms D's, where we were greeted with a treasure trove of gardening tools, a very colourful looking front and back garden and the promise of a brew!
Ms D has very much appreciated the help that she has had from a number of GoodGym runners and it's great to see how her garden has taken colour and shape with our assistance.
Today's task centred around an island area towards the back of the garden and we set about tidying up the shrubs and trees, whilst Ms D weeded and we then got stuck into removing the old rotten wooden border posts, digging a small trench around the island area and fixing in new border posts to make the whole area a lot tidier.
Stopping only to watch a cat make it's way up through the twigs and branches of next door's tree and to sup on a well earned cuppa earl grey, accompanied by some rather fabulous chocolate and cranberry cookies, we got our task done much to the delight of Ms D. Discovering that Charlie is born and bred Bristolian, led us to fire off a load of colloquialisms, and hence today's pun!
Always plenty to do here so it was great to stand back and see the difference that we, and those before us, have made.
Heading off back, I feel a little guilty for not climbing the hill in Victoria Park again with Charlie, but, quite frankly, I felt knackered!
