Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Lucy Hill
There were only two of us doing the Pret delivery and drop off today, so our GoodGym mission turned into a romantic date of sorts.
Ben & I turned up at Pret as the doors were closing, and we waited as the team did the count up and people tried to get in despite the shop being closed. We waited and waited and waited. What was going on? Having both become old hands at this task, we were a little perplexed as no one had told us we could take the toasties or pack the protein pots. We asked why we were waiting, and the barista informed us that the new manager (who started on Tuesday) said we would not be able to take anything until gone five. Even though the shop was packed up at 4:30.
Alas. Twenty six minutes of waiting we had then. What sort of romantic date activities can you fit into a less than half an hour time frame, inside a closed shop, during a pandemic?
People watching it seems. And weather watching. The weather seemed to change more than Pret’s sandwich selection, and we had gone from torrential winds to brilliant sunshine to rain in the time we were stuck inside!
Finally, it turned 17:00 and the Pret guys said we could help ourselves. In the salads and sandwiches went, and a plethora of pastries, and off we went back out into the world, wondering what weather we would meet.
We went through hail and back on the journey to Lola’s, but we dropped the goods off, and the weather came good for the ride home. The deed ended with us watching the sun Pret over the Thames, and cycling off back home. A Pret-ty romantic date in the end!
