The inaugural event put on by one of Birmingham's running clubs turned out to be a bit dramatic. Goodgym Birmingham trainer Jonny showed the logic of the numbers given out, wearing number 2 as the organisers used predicted times to set the number order, making it easy to find the most sensible place to be at the start line. He managed a fine fifth place in 15.52 after his exploits last week, running just under 15 minutes at 5k. The PB's were for myself and Balal, he took an exceptional 1.21 off his time, finishing in 21.25. A cracking result done in a powerful and sensible way, well done Balal! Then there was the chump writing this report, the subject of the pun. I fell badly about 50m from the finish, managed to cross the line before being treated by St John's Ambulance and ultimately off into an ambulance and A&E. Feeling a bit sore, I was relieved and amazed to find out that I had also beaten my best, despite the fall, hobbling over in 18.59.

Well done to all! That shows real commitment that you were prepared to injure yourself in pursuit of a PB.
