Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
28 people ran 5-7k, collected leaves for mulching and delivered flyers in Dartmouth Park for a Community Veg box scheme
We had another great run last night- if you didn't come you should have done. We helped 2 great projects. They were;
Castlehaven Community Centre Growing Project Kentish Town Veg Box
At Castlehaven project co-ordinator Sarah asked us if we could collect the massive piles of leaves that were all over the communal space in front of the centre. These leaves would then be mulched and used as mulch by the community gardening group.
Kentish Town Veg Box is a small community led veg box scheme, which attempts to source local seasonal produce for Kentish Town residents. Its a not for profit organisation with any re-invested in other local growing projects.
Fun with leaves
Armed with rakes, gloves and bin bags, the team got straight to work quickly racking up the bin bags stuffed with vegetation. In 30mins we collected around 20 full bags of damp leaves- sprucing up the area and potentially providing some nutrient rich plant food for the gardening group. We also had time to lift and lug a bunch of heavy logs back into the centre- they'll be used to create bug habitats later down the line!
Flyers
8 people headed further north to Dartmouth Park to deliver the Veg Box flyers. We only had 150 to deliver so smashed it in no time- giving us time for a few hill sprints up Dartmouth Park Hill!
We all congregated together at Castlehaven for the run home. We run through Camden, slaloming through Camden on our way back to the Community Centre. Nice work everyone.
