Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Gill (She/her)
I had no sooner rung the doorbell that Mr D was there, welcoming me in and beckoning me to take the weight off my feet. I think he must have some kind of 6th Sense. And as usual he had a big smile on his face, so obviously pleased to see me.
As I got comfy on the sofa he insisted on making me my usual cuppa and yet another custard tart. I said that I would bring cake on my next visit, but he is adamant that he would be offended if I felt that I needed to bring something with me. I'm just trying to work out how to gently suggest that there are only so many custard tarts a woman can eat.
But it was a lovely break form work and we soon got chatting about all sorts. He always appreciates me reading his letters to him as he isn't confident with his reading, so we were able to sort out arrangements for his next hospital appointment and reassure hime about what would happen. Then we shared stories about family and friends and what I'd been up to during the week. He was really interested to hear about the Love Luton Race and was impressed that I could run 10km in under an hour (so was I to be honest).
I'm sure he'd love it if one or two other GoodGymers were able to sign up for a visit - maybe on a weekend, as I'm sure he'd love an opportunity to talk about cars (of which I know nothing). He's such a pleasant and entertaining man, I'm sure any GoodGYmer would enjoy the visit as much as he would.
