Report written by Sam Ollason
Nine GoodGym volunteers ran up the hill to help clean the vicarage at St Phillip and St James' church in Odd Down. It was a warm evening and the hill seems to go on forever, but we banded together and made it to the top!
Welcome everybody!
We met at the leisure centre by the river and I gave everyone an overview of the GoodGym news.
At the weekend, some of us ran down to Cleve Hill campsite in Weston to help at a Scout Service Day. We had lots of fun cutting back nettles and weeding the car park and then burning it all on a big bonfire. We will be back in a few weeks time, so keep a look out at the run listings to get involved!
At the weekend we have a great Community Mission coming up where we will be helping Foodbank collect food at Waitrose. Follow the sign-up instructions on the run listing to get involved.
Bloomin' (field) 'eck this hill is steep!
We ran up Holloway and then up Bloomfield Drive to get to the church. We have been up the hill to the church many times before, and it never gets any shorter or less steep! However, the views over Bath are never any less beautiful or any less rewarding.
"I'm sill standing, after all this time!"
Our host, Barry, met us and gave us an overview of the task. A new vicar is moving into the Vicarage in a few weeks time and the team there have been busy refurbishing and tidying the house in preparation. Our job was to remove as much dust as possible. This saw us cleaning window sills, lampshades, skirting boards, cupboards and banisters. Our hard work last night made sure that the house is cleaner and more safe for when the new vicar and his family moves in.
Team work makes the dream work!
Last night was another great example of GoodGym teamwork. We had to work together to make sure we reached all the difficult spots and to make sure we covered everything. Good work team!
We said thanks to Barry for hosting us (and for the squash and chocolate biscuits!) and we were on our way back down the hill again. We soaked up the views looking over Bath and we were back at the leisure centre just before 8pm for a cool down and stretch.
Thanks
Thanks to Barry for hosting us last night, thanks to Pascale for backmarking for us and thanks to Emily for an awesome pun this week!
