Apple-easure to help
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Cardiff.
- Wednesday, 30th of September 2020
It was a dull and dreary day which was brightened up when Mrs M greeted me at her front door. Mrs M needed assistance to set up a new phone along with fixing a blind in the kitchen.
Mrs M may be hard of hearing but she picked up on my Irish lilt pretty quickly. We had a great chat about her trip to Ireland years ago and plenty of other stories over the years. I then got to work on the roller blind. After sourcing a step ladder in Mrs M’s garden shed, I managed to fix the blind much to Mrs M’s surprise (and mine)!
Then I unpacked Mrs M’s new phone but it was a mobile phone which required a sim card that we didn’t have. Mrs M was happy to pack it back up and send it back as it wasn’t exactly what she needed. Mrs M also asked for help to open up a watch casing so thankfully I was able to help her out with that too.
Mrs M give me some apples from her trees in the back garden to take home and I’ve already baked some yummy desserts using them. It really was a wonderful visit to Mrs M and certainly brightened the day for both of us.

Wonderful mission Marie. We'll hopefully be able to go back and help once Mrs M has the right phone and SIM card.
good work Marie!
