Liam and I headed up to Clifton after the group run, Liam unfortunately suffering a recurrence of his injury so we tried to find a route that would not involve any steps to climb.

Mrs R was waiting for us when we arrived and we helped her bring in her shopping from the car before getting started on the task that she had organised for us. Mrs R lives in a block of flats of which only two are owner occupied and so while her neighbour sorts the post that arrives, Mrs R is in charge of the garden and keeping the area outside nice and tidy which she has found increasingly difficult to manage.

Mrs R has had a few GoodGym mission runners visit over the summer to help with trimming and tidying the garden and our task today was to deal with the leaves that had built up over the autumn period.

Whilst Liam got to work around the entrance to the block of flats with a dustpan and brush, I cleared the steps up to the property using a long handled soft broom and we had the front of the block looking neat and tidy in no time.

We then moved round to the back, where we found a much larger deposit of leaves around the back entrance and communal bin area. Handing over the soft broom to Liam, he set about clearing the entrance area, whilst I took charge of a harder bristled broom to tackle the leaves and moss covering the area by the communal bins.

An hour later, with Mrs R chatting with us about all sorts as we worked, we had the place looking much better with the leaves stashed away in the green waste bin.

This was a wonderful way to spend an hour on a Saturday afternoon, making a bit of difference to someone who not only appreciated the help but also the opportunity for a chat.
