7 Goodgymers ran to help the Blacklow Road Gardening Club in Warwick with tidying up their communal space, digging out a border and planting some new plants.
After a gentle jog (including a bit of up hill over the canal bridge) we arrived to meet Sara, Caroline and Sarah at Blacklow Road. There were a number of tasks to keep us busy.
James got stuck in with his usual gusto removing turf along the edge of the border, making a larger area to plant into and tidying the edge at the same time. Lil and Vic followed in James's wake helping to give the border a good dig over.
Allan and Nigel made light work of tidying up the path edging, removing the grass from between the slabs and cutting back the grass at the edges. Laura's task was to tidy up the rose, giving it a good hair cut and thinning out the branches.
Once the edge of the border had been dug over it was ready for Vic and Katherine to start putting in the new plants. A final sweep of the path and with all the waste tidied into the green bins the area looked fit for the queen - or a jubilee street party at the weekend at least!
After a jog back to St Nick's we finished the session with a 1 minute plank challenge where everyone demonstrated their fantastic planking abilities!
We've started improving a grass area to bring in more wildlife. We need assistance digging larger borders and adding plants for pollinators to the area, also generally making it more meadow like.
