SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
To kick off last night's session we gave Jonathan a massive cheer for reasons which will for now remain under wraps, but are definitely well deserved! In fact, it was over to Jonathan for the evening as he continued his run leader training by taking last night's session and kicking off with an excellent warm up featuring the wonderfully named Frankensteins.
With the threat of thunderstorms ahead we set off at a good lick towards Gunnersbury Park for our bramble bashing task, arriving to find masses of secateurs, rakes and spades.
As always it was a bit of an expedition to find the right spot but with Chris and Michelle leading us expertly to the right spot accompanied by the 'crying wheelbarrow', we quickly found the tonne bags marking out our area for the night.
We got stuck in trying to pull out some very stubborn brambles, and soon spotted the Path to Nowhere we had dug one very wet, windy and muddy night. We had yet to see it in the light of day so I popped across and was delighted to see it was looking brilliant - check out the photo!
After a good session derooting as many brambles as possible, we downed tools and made it back to our starting point without so much as a single drop of rain. After a nice cool down and stretch it was another Wednesday night very well done.
Don't forget about this fun community mission coming up very soon, and this Saturday GoodGym Lambeth are meeting at Clapham Common parkrun - enjoy the rest of your week GoodGym!
