8 goodgymers from far and wide came to Park Hill to litter pick. We welcomed Sam and Elizabeth who were on their impressive 3rd task of the day!
At first sight, the park was quite clean and tidy with lots of Sunday strollers, go karters and even a cute cat!
However, keen litter picker Magda showed us to the best spots where litter hadn’t been picked for YEARS, with lots of retro packaging proving it had been their a while!
We found car batteries, a crutch, traffic cones, bags and lots of shoes, amongst the mass of bottles and crisp packets. We even found a sign in a bush saying “Place all rubbish in the bin provided”, the irony!
Andy coined the challenge “the most hardcore task”, something I’m sure Magda is proud of!
The group made light work of all the rubbish and soon the park was looking sparkling, with 12 big sacks full of rubbish- check out the before and after pics!
However there is 100% scope for some more picking in the future, in the harder to reach spots (watch this space for a future mission!). Magda was kind enough to take all the rubbish to the tip after the mission.
We were happy to see a thankful robin swoop down to thank us for our work cleaning up their home!
Three crazy souls (me, Andy and Doville) then proceeded to take on a 10k route around West Wickham and Addiscombe which somehow turned into 15km but great chance to get the miles in for GoodGym Croydon on the distance challenge for January!
