Somehow the weather had changed, and Friday morning brought glorious sunshine with it. Perfect for a gardening mission!
Bethan & I were at Ms D’s, helping her to clear her garden, which needed a bit of weeding and a trim, and to attack a slightly thorny friend who was trying to take over. After the initial shock of two ladies turning up (‘I was expecting two men!). Ms D showed us the tools, and left us to get to work, under the capable supervision of Toby the cat.
I was on weeding duty, tackling the large patchy weeds that were growing around the sides, and Bethan (Queen of all things spiky, it seems) took the choppers and went to face the rose bush. It was unbelievably hot, and both of us were dripping in sweat. It wasn’t just perspiration we were covered in… We had discovered a corner of the garden that was full of Beth’s most favourite thing - STICKY WEED! I promise we were both working hard, and not just seeing who could stick the weeds to each other!
An hour and a half flew by, and it was soon time to leave. The rose bush had been pruned back, and the borders of the garden were weed free. Worth the sweat and sticky balls to see nine bags of garden waste in difference! Although there was still a back corner in need of a weed, and the grass was still in need of a trim, we had done well.
Toby, who had been watching us working, woke from his nap in the shade and gave us a contented purr and a yawn, which suggested he was pleased with our progress.
We may not have balls, but we did have sticky balls (which Bethan is still picking out of her hair), and proved once again the magic of Girl Power.
