Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Three GoodGymmers took on the typically British Bank Holiday weather to shift and spread 56 bags of sand for a children's play pit in North London
Senay and Caroline met with Tony to open the playground and start proceedings. They were already shifting sand when I arrived from my 18-mile run and they were actually having a brief break to do 22 push-ups in order to raise awareness for Combat Stress.
I put on my upbeat tunes as usual and we got to work.
This very much felt like we were doing a physical task in the Aztec zone of the Crystal Maze.
We used barrows and trolleys to collect bags of sand and then opened and spread the contents to top up the sand pit ready for the children. We estimated each bag was around 20kg so, if that is true, we shifted almost 1.5 tonnes of sand! That is some serious GoodGym muscle!
Who needs a gym when you can lift sand bags to pumping tunes in the great outdoors?
After over an hour of heavy lifting, alas, it was time for heavy rain; we cleared up the 56 empty sand bags, locked up then disbanded to enjoy the rest of our long weekends.
