Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Susan Gillie
The GG dream team of Bristol Caroline, Sheffield James and York Suze all managed to show up a little late, but Mrs. B was delighted to see us nonetheless. The garden needed a general tidy up, and a lot of watering to save all the thirsty plants from expiring in the heat. We were offered a hose to use, but in true GoodGym style we took the harder option of multiple watering can trips, gaining a bicep workout in the process. Caroline started tackling the privet hedge the old fashioned way with some slightly blunt shears, before James had to take over for the taller sections. #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork Just as we were finishing, Mrs. B told us she had some electric hedge trimmers inside. Oh well.
We also deadheaded, swept and weeded the yard, then, having exhausted all possible jobs in the shade, we moved on to the front garden and chopped back some sprawling bushes and overgrown lavender to clear access down the garden path. It was swelteringly hot so Mrs. B suggested a coke break, providing some refreshingly cool cans from the fridge, and we had a good chat about her favourite bird visitors (blue tits - solid choice). We bagged up all the lavender fragranced waste and attempted a sunny selfie before heading on our way. A top job done in hot and polleny conditions, well done team!!
