An invasive plant had embedded itself between flagstones on Mrs D's path. The resulting raised slabs were a potential trip hazard, so had to be made safe.

After a dry morning, rain began to fall and a light drizzle accompanied me to Mrs D's door.

I could see no sign of anyone at the property, so set to work, hoping to catch up with Mrs D before leaving. However, a neighbour soon informed me that Mrs D had been taken into hospital yesterday.

With no further details there was nothing to do but crack on with the task in hand, ready for Mrs D's return home

Lifting the flags, it was clear to see that the tubers and roots had taken a firm hold, and a little muscle...and a matock, was needed to remove the plant, ready for putting into pots.

Mrs D loves the yellow flowers produced by the interloper, so I am hoping that it will survive the transplant, and be blooming in the spring.

Several bulbs had already begun to sprout, but were in need of extra soil. That done, and with the flags replaced, I headed off.

Hopefully, Mrs D will be back home soon, to enjoy the delights of her patio garden.
