Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
16 do gooders took to the streets, joined forces to take on the task and blasted out some tabata
Huge shouts out to Ben, Cara, Anna O, Cecily and Anna S you guys rock!
I couldn’t wait to see the other GGH crew so I arrived at 6pm hoping others would share my enthusiasm. After a few minutes the lovely Dawn arrived so we caught up over coffee while awaiting the others. In true GGH fashion everyone seemed to come out of the woodwork at the same time. There were one or two regulars who didn’t make it however. We miss you guys. Hurry back now y’hear. We were super happy to have a few newcomers join us though. Huge shouts out to Ben, Cara, Anna O, Cecily and Anna S you guys rock! the way everybody supported each other and got on made it seem as if you’d been with us from the very first session.
everyone chatting away about the lovely Xmas break they’d had
After a quick briefing and warm up we activated Strava and hit the streets in search of this weeks light down at the Living Under One Sun Allotments where we’d be weeding their berry plot which had quickly become overrun by all manner of wild weeds. Our run there was at a nice pace with everyone chatting away about the lovely Xmas break they’d had. Everyone was getting on really well which was great too.
silliest of silly and ghastliest of the ghastly face of the month
On arrival at L.U.O.S the lovely Sandy greeted us with her son who's great and always gets stuck in; helping us at every opportunity. Sandy went on to tell us exactly what needed doing and what tools we’d have available to us. She then lead us through the allotment to the plot that we’d be working on. After a quick recap on where we should be weeding we got straight to it tugging, pulling, digging and yanking. While everyone worked away I mentioned we'd be starting a monthly picture competition to discover the silliest of silly and ghastliest of the ghastly face of the month, or in simple terms a monthly face off. As I went round taking pictures of peoples silly faces there were all kind of conversations going on about who was going to bring what (prop) the following week to ensure a win come the end of the month. I did have to give one or two people props for their ideas. I look forward to y’all bringing the silly in the coming weeks.
Everyone was super supportive of each other with lots of clapping and cheering
With all the tugging fun we were having time flew by and we’d smashed our first task of 2016. The berry garden was looking a lot happier and so were us GGers. Unfortunately that time had come and we had to start clearing, cleaning and packing up but not before Sandy’s son had a turn using my headlamp which he’d clearly had his eye on since we arrived. We packed everything away and said our goodbyes before our mandatory round of high fives and we were off again into the night. We didn’t get too far before reaching the spot where we usually stop to do some reverse dips. This spot happens to be outside of a KFC and one or two of our newcomers were like “oh are we stopping off for KFC” lol. We did mention a little earlier that we’d be doing a social at Chicken Town so I can see why they may have got a little confused. Funny all the same. Reverse dips done we set off again and as usual did our sprint finish along the home straight which was great. Everyone was super supportive of each other with lots of clapping and cheering. Good stuff.
We had just enough time to do a quick round of tabata then warm down and stretch over some banter before heading off to cosy up in front of the TV (if that’s a bit of you) and have some din dins.
PS I can't seem to get Dashing Dave's camera to communicate with my mac but as soon as I do I'll add the rest of the pics including the silly face ones.
Until next week (or this Friday) folks – stay fit, do good and look out for the light!
