Sunday 12th May
Report written by Jonathan (he/him)
A lush Sunday evening saw four Goodgymmers help wheel in the big bins that had collected the detritus of the street Fayre.
A wonderful time taking out the trash (or at least parking in a side street) was capped off with taking the time to relax and socialise with a quick drink.
This is a non-profit community and volunteer led full street closure event with over 100 market stalls, free children's activities, live music on two stages, Funfair stalls and rides and Maypole, etc. To help support local businesses on the high street to bounce back post-pandemic. This new annual event closes the normally very busy Wandsworth Bridge Road in South Fulham and brings 10,000+ visitors to the road and creates a place for people, not cars! We seek volunteers on the morning of the event from 7am to 10am to help with smaller manual labour tasks such as moving picnic benches, hay bales, handing signage, placing deck chairs, etc. Likewise at the end of the day, from 5pm to put it all back by 8pm. There are professional, separate crews erecting stalls and stages and you would not be needed for any of those tasks.
