7 runners attended last nights run to St Lesmo Care home in Edgeley. We ran 4km to get to the task this week, with it being warm we ran at a low comfortable pace.
St Lesmo is a residential care home with 30+ residents, they have a lovely outdoor space to use however the garden it self doesn't get maintained, the grass gets cut but the rest has been left to overgrow, leaving it uncared for and over grown with brambles and leaves. It was our task to clean up and free the area so that the space can breath freely and grow fresh.
Once we arrived at the task we were kindly met by resident Andrew, who showed us the areas that needed the most love and attention, so the team set to it with gloves, and garden equipment. While the Goodgym crew were busy at work myself and the Easter bunny had a task of our own, to create a mini chocolate bunny hunt! After clearing the area we had a tidy up and put a few orniments and bird baths in the correct spaces and then scattered some lovely wild seeds to attract bees and butterflies to the area.
It was a lovely spring task that will bring joy tot he residents of the home, with the weather being warmer and spring well on its way the space will be used a lot more.
This week it was great to see a few regular faces, it was great seeing Jennie after her 1st marathon and hearing all about the experience, and how already she is planning more!! Well done lovely lady.
Spring is a great time to start new challenges, if anyone would like to run a particular race then spread the word at the group runs or let me know and ill add it to the website.
Have a wonderful week running folks,
