Report written by Bournemouth runner
8 wonderful runners decided to run the empty streets of Bournemouth last night. The task was to visit Abbeyfield Wessex to help them paint a shed and tidy up the flower beds in the back garden. Abbeyfield Wessex is a wonderful care home providing assisted living facilities and we were more than happy to help out. We hadn't been for over 8 months! Let's hope the next visit it sooner.
Our warm up took us into the shaded gardens and along the creek, stopping for some photo opportunities here and there. It was such a warm evening!! It was a very short route, but we did explore all the back roads along the way. Jilly was waiting for us and provided us with toilets and cold water!! How perfect!
We filed out into the garden and soon split up into two teams. One in the sunshine painting the shed and another in the shade weeding the flower beds and pulling out dead plants....others, like Andrew, getting attacked by the local rose bush and being inspired to come up with the title! After 20 minutes some swapped over and by the end we were all painting trying to finish off the shed before we had to leave. Lots of paint flying everywhere.....small water fights....but we got the job done!
We ran back along the main road, trying to see which pub would tickle our fancy to watch the second half of the England game.... We got into one, grabbed some cold beers and sat out in the beer garden to relax and cool down....shame about the result though, but we still had a great time.
A huge
CONGRATULATIONS
to Andrea on completing her 50th good deed! An amazing achievement and we are so lucky to have her on the team. Despite all the stress at work she turns up with a smile and ready to go! Hope your black t-shirt arrives soon!
Well done all, see you next week. We'll be back at St Clements to try to finish off painting their fence. Remember to check out the GoodGym Shindig and see if you can make it!!!
