I met up with a group of willing volunteers at Brompton on a frosty morning. We walked along the Grand Union Canal path to Horsenden Farm. What a beautiful walk it was - the path was icy in parts and some of the canal was actually frozen over! But the sky was blue and we chatted as we strolled.

We needed to get to work and keep warm. In fact, there was no risk of anyone cooling down. What with mulch shifting, bramble clearing/chopping up and shifting old sleepers, the group were kept very busy. They were such a positive bunch, chatting and joking and doing a great job for this amazing community farm.

Our reward was a hot cuppa and a piece of cake in the volunteer's kitchen, well deserved!

We set off back along the canal, and I hear there was talk of a chippy lunch, nice!
