It was great to get back to Sloane Court to tend their garden after not being able to access through the whole of lockdown. Resident Tony got us to work focussing on the back garden, particularly the patio area which was covered in weeds. Michael, Sherman and first timer Stephen got stuck in to this area, and now the residents can enjoy sitting out here admiring the rest of the garden.
The raised bed we planted out a couple of years ago is doing really well, the plants are filling out the space but always some weeding which Juliet did a great job of. David (Bellamy!) tackled a particularly bindweedy corner and Tabitha hacked back a giant buddleia which was taking over a little fig tree. Rosie cleared a side alley and trimmed Liz's legendary bush and we all had a big clear up at the end.
This garden is a haven for wildlife including a family of foxes and it looked like mum had been busy hunting, with lots of feathers and wings littering the lawn. But we also found some larger, mystery bones including a rib cage and a leg!
Some of us then headed to the Roundhill pub (at various paces!) to meet up with some of the other group and celebrate Katharine's 50th good deed!
