Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
This morning I met up with Beth for a pre-work mission for Mrs O in Camden.
Mrs O has been in hospital for six weeks and is looking forward to going home. For that to happen, a hospital bed needs to be installed. GoodGym were asked if we could help make some space for this by moving a single divan bed and armchair from a ground floor living room to a basement area.
We were welcomed into Mrs O's by her daughter, O's-dötter (see what I did there? 😉) She ran us through the task pretty efficiently, while Beth kept an eye out for any errant pictures on walls that were prone to falling down (none) and spare doors that we could use to make the move easier (lots).
Luckily, although there was a slightly twisty staircase and an inconvenient handrail in the way, the furniture being moved was relatively light and agreeable to being moved. Even better, Beth could read my mind when it came to the angles I wanted the furniture to magically be at. Perfect!
With the main job done, we considered the space that we'd made in the living room. O's-dötter felt that a bookcase should be moved along a wall a little to make some extra space. We agreed (& had plenty of time) so gave the books temporary homes on the ground while we moved the beast. Moving the bookcase revealed a plethora of tissue paper that a (country?) mouse had obviously gone to town on some years ago, which got promptly hoovered up with a Dyson before the books were restacked onto the shelves (in chronological order, I might add).
O's-dötter was super happy with our help and was looking forward to telling people about the work that we do 😎 As a mark of thanks, she gave us some cake/biscuits (😋) as we made our goodbyes, which will probably make both Beth and I popular in our respective workplaces for a least a day. Awesome stuff!
It was lovely working with you, Beth: see you around soon! 😄
