Report written by James Gilbert
GoodGym joined the CREOS crew this Sunday to help on their monthly workday.
We've helped at the Crouch End Open Space for several months running now (pun not intended but fine if enjoyed responsibly) so we are starting to feel like part of the team.
There's always lots to do at CREOS and a quick look at their to-do list confirmed this month was no different. After a brief hail shower - um that wasn't on the forecast - we got to work with:
- Bagging up broken up tarmac loosened on previous workdays when volunteers dug through an old tennis court
- Partially clearing a path blocked by a tree felled by recent winds, including the neat addition of some chopped wood stepping stones quickly appreciated by passing walkers and dogs
- Shifting woodchip from a pile in the carpark onto pathways
- Shifting a huge pile of large branches over the felled tree and using these to reinforce the dead hedge around an old oak tree
- Digging holes where that big pile used to be for saplings to be planted
We quickly split up to do jobs all over the large wooded space, so it's quite possible there were GoodGym-ers doing other work that isn't recorded here - we did a lot of good.
When 1pm came around it was picnic time. Your reporter tragically had to leave at one on the dot, so he trusts the GoodGym team enjoyed their well earned rewards.
GoodGym and CREOS - what a team.
