Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Ipswich runner
Before heading out tonight we celebrated some great achievements from the weekend, with runners who had participated in the Gt. Bentley Half Marathon and London Winter 10k.
We also reminded everyone of the first GG Ipswich Community Mission coming on on Sunday organised by taskforce member Andrew - all the details are here. Please sign up if you can make it - would be great to get a few people along to this.
Our run out to Castle Hill Community Centre was a comfortable pace with Adelain and Steve covering as Back Markers. Our task was to paint one of the larger rooms at the centre the now traditional magnolia colour - and we had a fresh bucket of paint!
Splitting into two groups - starting at either side of the room, rollers and brushes were brandished and made light work of a pretty big space, even if shorts and T-shirts did get the odd stray splash of magnolia!
On the 2.5 mile return leg of our run the fitness element offered was a series of fartlek "efforts". The weekend running had obviously taken it's toll as Alex was the only taker, with the majority of the group opting for an easy pace and a chat!
A short stretch back at base completed the evening and a round trip of 5 miles.
Next week we'll be working for SUSTRANSon part of the national cycle network route 51 which runs along the Waterfront, through the town centre and along the river - SUSTRANS have teamed up with Goodgym nationally to support the National Cycle Network - see how Goodgym Sheffield got on with a similar task
