We certainly worked hard tonight! A lovely task of making a play area in Cromwell Drive safer by removing the cut back shrubbery roots and cutting back hedges for Slough Neighbourhood Services team
After our relatively short run out via Salt Hill and Baylis Park we made our way to the playarea to meet our welcoming commit-tree task owners Vinay and Ian, where they explained what needed doing. We had previously visited this play ground last year and helped to cut back the shrubs and hedges. Tonight was round 2 - time to remove the roots as they were causing a trip hazard for the local children; cut back one whole hedge and trim back another.
Rooting for you
Darren and Antonio had the task of cutting down and then digging out the roots. The sweat levels were high as they used the axes to attack the root cause of the problem. It was actually very impressive watching them remove these trip hazard roots! Well done guys.
Trimming hedges is hard work....you must take it sheariously - and Jean, Meera and Kam certainly did take it seriously! There was not much chatting going on...just hard graft and perhaps some form of origami style trimming.
Pam and Jen supported by Vinay had all the cutting hedge technology to cut back that hedge...well, they had clippers and saws...But that was enough as in 40 minutes they managed to cut back that hedge to its grass roots!
Tree-mendious effort by everyone this evening (even I got involved in wheel barrow duties!
Good things come in trees
Huge congratulations to Chrissy and Pete on the arrival of baby Leo last week. Our first Goodgym baby! Can't wait to meet you baby Leo.
