A nice mild evening for sowing tulips and racking up another good deed 🌷

How quickly a year goes by! It was our last group run of 2021 that we planted bulbs in Cator Park with the local Friends group, but we've come a bit earlier this year to get the tulips in the ground so that they have time to bed in before the squirrels come for them 🐿️ 😡

We met at the Bridge House, and the question of the week asked our runners "If you were Prime Minister for the day, what fun thing could you pull off in that day?". We had some creative answers including free cookies by post, as well as the obligatory bank holiday for all 🙂

We also welcomed Steve Lee from Lewisham GoodGym 👋

A direct 2km to Cator Park so we could get started quickly (enjoying the run so much we nearly missed the park entrance 😳), where we met Millie, Lou and the rest of the Friends. Spades, forks and bulbs were handed round. Claire and Alex got stuck in making nice deep holes for the bulbs, whilst Ian and Hannah headed over to the other side of the park to do some planting.

Thanks to some recent rain, the topsoil wasn't too hard to dig, although Hannah and I got a little stumped with a patch where clearly the nearby tree had been having a drink and the soil was still rock hard. Perseverance paid off, however, using a fork to loosen the soil and then bringing the spade in to lift it out.

We all came back together to bury some special tulips - 'Queen of the Night' 👑 - which come up a nice shade of aubergine, apparently! Looking forward to seeing them come up in the Spring.

Good work, team 💪
