On a scorcher of a Friday Jess and Lara headed over to the Maidenhead Community Allotment for our third mission at this flourishing community space this week.

Lara reported back:

Someone had been down earlier for some watering. But that didn't stop us literally emptying what was left in the water butts over the plants!

What a work-out! No doubt the veg will have been grateful for its second drink, and why ever not make it a double on a Friday evening?

This was the first time Jess has been at the allotment for a few weeks and she she was super impressed with how the plants are thriving:

I can't believe how much it has grown....it looks amazing!

This task supported

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
