Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On a pleasant late summer evening five runners from GoodGym Redbridge rolled up their sleeves and made George Green a litter-free place. And not only that, they ran 6km in the process.
This week we used the run to collect some protective gloves as a warm up and enjoyed some dynamic drills led by Claudia. Warmed up and ready to 'Do Good in the Hood' we returned to George Green to pick up litter ahead of an event their later this week. While it looked to be a small job we were amazed (and slightly disappointed) to return after 40 minutes with more than 6kgs of rubbish collected from the Green.
From tonight’s task we learnt:
This was potentially a grubby task but the team did a great job in making the place look spick and span. People not taking home rubbish with them is a major nuisance in London’s park’s and while the council has resources to deal with this, the problem is bigger than they can handle. Once again GoodGym did a real public service in making the local area a better place to live.
With the task complete and 25 minutes still on the clock the session finished with some extra miles around the local area and a good stretching session back at base.
Star of the week award must go to Alice who notched up her 70th task this week. Alice has long been a GG Newham regular but has started doubling up and has quickly become a key member of the Redbridge crew. She doesn’t think she is going to get to 100 before Christmas but with a bit of resolve we think she can get there. Go Go Go Alice!
Plenty more good to do in Redbridge. If you fancy the sound of this why not sign up to next week’s task here

Thank you to James & Claudia who were inspirational in having ran the Berlin Marathon the day before and still had masses of energy left to encourage us to go that extra mile. Great Night!
