The fabulous bank holiday weather took it's toll on our attendance this evening. We had just 6 hard core Goodgymers forsaking pimms or cider the pub garden or a sunny late evening barbeque to make tonight's Group Run.

Although we were small in number we still managed to carry out a tremendous amount of work on behalf of River Care

The task was fairly simple in that River Care have asked that we intermittently litter pick sections of the river along which we run most weeks, being based on the Waterfront.

Everyone was issued with a litter picker before we left the Waterfront Building and it felt like we some kind of Litter Special Forces SWAT team running past the Waterfront bars and eating places with lots of people still enjoying the sunshine.

Tonight we were covering the section of from Stoke Bridge to Princes Street Bridge. Surprisingly most of the river path was fairly light on litter until we reached the area backing on to the Skate Park where unfortunately there was quite a bit of rubbish.

We finished with 4 large sacks full of debris before depositing them in bins and running back to base, just to drop off the litter pickers, gloves and bags before heading out again for a lovely run out to and around the perimeter of Hollywells Park, taking in Cliff Lane hill on the way, before returning back to base.

Great work from a small band and in the spirit of waste - I'm recycling an old pun for tonight's run report title.

Next week we'll be returning to the People's Community Garden. Sign up HERE
