Tonight I heard the thing no trainer ever wants to hear... "Oh, we weren't expecting you tonight"

Don't worry though.. this is a bank holiday story with a happy ending

It was a great Bank Holiday group run tonight to visit Francis House, a Changing Lives project on Westgate Road which is a home to vulnerable women in Newcastle that we last visited in the early days of GoodGym Newcastle, right before the long hot summer started.

Despite a little mix up when we arrived, two groups of GG heroes were able to get quickly to work on the gardens including creating a little pebble sculpture in the back garden! Cute! I was also able to give Emily a bit of on the spot advice for a niggly injury she's been struggling with- please note her single leg squat pose in the photos and admire it. Raking, sweeping, clearing and digging was expertly done by all including new runner Louisa who came along for her first taste of GoodGym brilliantness which is so brilliant it isn't even a word.

Our fitness session tonight was a paarlauf relay between ladder drills and hill reps not forgetting a quick history lesson from Dan who found out that Mo Molam lived in the house right opposite Summerhill Park. Competition for Most Original Ladder Drill was strong but Amy took the coveted Drumstick lolly for services to running drills. A quick pose-off at Sir Bobby Robson's statue on the way back (won by Paul, I think you'll agree) and off for Bank Holiday drinks we went. Another fab start to the week and a very grateful task owner at Francis House.

Happy running! Anji x
