Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Tonight we ran just over 5km to help clean the local sports pavilion in Lloyd Park
We headed off to Lloyd Park tonight taking the route with the fewest hills (the hills came later!) and ran to the pavilion where we met up with Alison from Croydon Council who showed us round the pavilion. We got stuck into sweeping the muddy floors, cleaning down the walls and finishing off with some mopping. A few spiders did come close to being washed too but the kind hearted GoodGym runners either cleaned round them or took them outside. After our hard work we were rewarded with some delicious cake and drinks from Claire who has only just opened the café at the park. I finished my piece off when I got home – perfect end to a fun evening.
On the way back came the hills and one was aptly named Steep Hill – there was a mix of walking and running up that particular hill. The rest of the way back we took turns in choosing where we should Fartlek for some sprinting practice and just because it’s a funny word to shout out!
Gemma and Will joined us for their first run today – it was lovely to meet them both and hope to see them back again soon.
If you want to find out more about Coach runs or Missions please email me on juliet@goodgym.org or have a look on the website. We now have around 17 older people/coaches ready to be paired with runners. Dom has been visiting his coach and can tell you all about it too.
I am also happy to do DBS checks for Coach runs/Missions before or after the Tuesday runs or we can arrange another time during the week if you can’t attend at these times.
Don’t forget to sign up for next week’s run. We will be making up and distributing some Christmas Gift bags. If you want you can donate items for the bags – here is a link to their page detailing the sorts of things they are looking for.
We will also be heading to Boxpark for our Christmas social after the run – the dress code is casual/sweaty lycra!
With Christmas looming there’s also the GoodGym party for all runners on Friday the 9th of December in Battersea – it’s fancy dress and the theme is the borough you run in.
Finally.... we had a chat about getting together on Saturday the 17th of December to run or volunteer at Lloyd Park parkrun (and some stealth GoodGym promotion too). I'll post it on the website ASAP.
