Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
Today, two GoodGymmers met up to help Camden Highline install a pocket park at Camden Gardens in the third of three volunteering sessions.
After the success of this morning's soil moving and planting sessions, there were only a few leftover bits and pieces for this third session 😎
Most of the session was taken up with finishing the planting and placing a fine gravel mulch around the newly planted flora. As I'd skipped out on this in the previous session (preferring the broom to the bloom), Beth showed me the ropes by planting near me and answering all of my questions 😄 The planting was followed up with some excessive watering (in case storm Dennis doesn't bring enough rain later), which perfectly complemented the attempted water boarding of the plants pre-planting (see here).
With most of this done in just over an hour, Beth and I headed over to a nearby pub to have a quick drink and to decimate and/or decapitate a bee-shaped cake that she'd brought me to celebrate my 400th good deed 🥰🥰🥰 Thanks Beth! The pub we went to also had a pub cat (apparently he likes sleeping with the bartender), which very much felt like the cherry on top of the 400th celebration cake (although obvs not a glacé cherry 🤮).
Thanks again to everyone who turned up over the three sessions: hope you enjoyed it and that I see you at the next one! 😄
