A last minute request to help out Mr D, who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and he just wants to get home to spend his final days with his wonderful wife, Mrs J.

Mrs J had a lovely large light living room, where Mr D would be set up once his hospital bed was delivered. The problem was making space for this bed, something Mrs J couldn’t do solo. Knowing how valuable time is in these situations, I didn’t hesitate to sign up, and fortunately Mrs J just needed that second pair of hands to do some furniture rearranging, so I was able to help her out without needing another GoodGymmer to come along.

Between us, we moved a sofa from the middle of the room, and relocated two armchairs and a table. It didn’t take long but it was a much appreciated effort, as there was now lots of space for a bed to fit in too.

Hopefully, Mr D will make it home tomorrow and those few seemingly insignificant minutes of mine spent helping shift a settee will help Mr D get home to spend his final days with his loving wife.

I didn’t take any photos during this mission, so instead my photo is of one of our lovely therapy dogs at the hospital who came by yesterday. Who knows, he may even have visited Mr D on his rounds of the wards!
