Mr T's (cross) word for this week was "dweeb" - he'd never heard of it and was surprised/ impressed that I had, and that I knew what it meant. What was more astonishing to me was that in the crossword he does, the same one word answer can be found by solving the "quick" or the "cryptic" question...and he'd solved it via the cryptic clue...I forgot to ask him what that clue was, but it must have required a fair bit of mental gymnastics. Otherwise we had a quick discussion about the racing at Cheltenham ("it's a bookies festival so I steer well clear"), and then somehow got onto jokes involving wellington boots that just aren't fit to be reported here...

To be clear, I did do his shopping as well, which proved straightforward in finding everything he wanted this week, and even better Lidl have upgraded their checkout area in the past week such that it now includes more self scan tills that accept real money, which is real progress.
