Gillian, Anita and Jess met at the community allotment to complete the small list of jobs from the task owner.

They had to dismantle the tub of runner beans that had died, pull out the peas which were over and refill the empty water butts.

Anita quickly had the hose set up and water butts filling whilst Gillian and Jess pulled out the canes and dead plants from the runner bean tub and pea patch. The canes were then left in the shed for use on the next batch of veg to be planted!

Whilst the water butts were filling the team gave the whole site a good watering (which meant the water butts took longer to fill as we kept stealing the water!), and perused the numerous plants growing in the garden.

It has been so great to see this garden grow and GoodGym even get a mention on the plaque of supporters on the shed!

With 4 water butts filled the team left the garden in peace and look forward to the next visit to see what has changed again.

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
