Report written by Lydia Turnbull
This week 8 runners met at Flirt Cafe to cover 8km and clean up graffiti.
Everyone was excited to meet at our new home in the Triangle. Town was busy and we certainly felt more 'on show' in our red t-shirts.
We welcomed a new face, Andrea - who confesses to not loving running.....yet!
Our task was described as a dynamic one. Anyone spotting graffiti was to stop and yell, so we could use the wipes (given to us by the council) to clean it.
We headed down to the beach and along the prom, as I couldn't resist a quick zigzag game. Once at the top, on Eastcliff we tried to give some TLC so a sunny seating area that had been attached by vandalism. Our graffiti wipes weren't so successful and this job....so undeterred we carried on into the Knyverton Road area where graffiti 'artists' had gone wild in pinks, blues and yellows.
We had some 'loving your work' comments from passers-by. Always nice!
We crossed the train station and over to the cricket groups and horseshoe common, stopping as and when to clean up.
We then binned our well-worn gloves. It's amazing what must be in graffiti paint as the chemicals we needed to clean it are fantastically potent....our gloves bore the brunt - safety first!
Home straight was down and up through the town back to Flirt Cafe. Shout out to Ross who dug deep and broke into racing mode up the hill!
Good job guys! Next week we have to go back to our Boscombe Roots for a task. 10km one!
See you then.....
