Chilling out and an icebreaker activity
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Saturday, 9th of December 2017
Today I joined the fab Stephen and Monica in Lewisham to help Mr G in the garden.
We introduced ourselves to him, and then got started on the task. The main thing he wanted done was having the lawn mown, so we took turns with the mower and raked as we went; yesterday's rain made this a little trickier, and also left lovely chunks of ice in the pools of water that had collected around the patio (and encapsulated the bag containing the mower's power cord, which needed shaking free!).
We did as much as we could given the rain and the length we could take the mower up the very long garden, and Monica took care of some pesky weeds as well. When we'd sorted this, we checked in with Mr G who was grateful for our help, and bade us adieu.
In less than an hour we'd managed to make his garden tidier and a little safer, which felt like a great use of a Saturday morning!
