Tonight we ran around 3km to help out at the Food Bank in Croydon

Tonight was a fairly short run downhill (didn’t bode well for the run back though!) to the local Food Banks where we helped clear an overgrown weedy a patch of land so a space could be created to add some colour to the area. The weeds and grasses were tenacious but not as stubborn as the runners who dug, weeded and hailed the unwanted plant life out of the ground into a large pile. While this was going on Jamie and Anna knocked some old cement off the bricks which were going to be used to create part of the garden. They were have such fun that I had to give at least three “times up” warning before I could get the runners to down tools and move the large pile of vegetation round to the compost bins or into black bags. Jim came along and oversaw operations – he had hoped to be heading off on holiday but Rachel was worried about the journey being too far for him!

After the task we headed towards the underpass for some thigh burning squats, lunges, running men and then headed to the conveniently located stairs for a “fun” stair drill – well it looked like fun from where I was standing giving instructions! Back up to Solutions we headed for our cool-down and a chat about next week’s task which we are all looking forward to.

It was lovely to meet Stephen and Maria on their first runs and really hope to see you both back again soon. Special call out to Dasha who was beaming with happiness as she’s just handed n her dissertation and can join us again on Teusday evenings.

Next week we will be heading back after a winder break to the Salvation Army for some more outdoor work.
