Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Big shout to Beth Hoskins for the run report and photos
On Saturday afternoon nine GoodGymers met at Chalk Farm foodbank to help move and sort a big pre-Christmas donation. The foodbank is open for business on a Saturday morning so while we waited for Adrienne and the other volunteers to finish up the morning session we gathered around the heater for warmth and chatted about which GoodGyms we regularly go to and explained how it all works to those that hadn't been before.

When it was time to get to work we split into teams. One was tasked with date checking some of the food and labelling anything that was past it's best and destined for the bin. Once they'd sorted the good food from the bad they moved it into place upstairs, ready to be given out. The other team was responsible for transferring food from cardboard boxes into much more sturdy crates. In amongst all the tins we also found a stowaway train. We weren't sure of his name at the time but a quick Google search suggests his name is Gerald, a brave engine working in the high mountains who also goes by the name Gator 'because his long sloping water tank makes him look like an alligator'. Every day's a school day when there is a GoodGym task involved.
Having also moved crates of weighed food from the stairs we had created some space for a big delivery that was on it's way. When it arrived it was a bit bigger than expected so it was a case of trying to find any free space to squeeze the last few crates into by the end but we managed it.
We were only there for a couple of hours but with plenty of heavy lifting we all felt like we'd had a great work out and had been a big help to Adrienne and her volunteers, they would have been there all day trying to shift all of that food on their own.
