Report written by Ipswich runner
Goodgym Colchester had a stand in leader this evening and I really appreciated the friendly welcome and directional help from the fabulous Colchester crew.
The task tonight for "Colchester in Bloom" was to run to "Pam's House" and follow her orders!
Pam is the leading light of the award winning Colchester in Bloom projct and she had some leaf clearing and bulb planting for us to do.
What a fantastic surprise we had when we knocked on her door, as Pam appeared with a flask of mulled wine and a plate of chocolates. A token of her appreciation of all the work Goodgym Colchester has done for the Colchester in Bloom project this year.
Once we were able to drag ourselves away from the hot wine, we set to clearing and bagging leaves from the base of the trees, followed by planting tulips and other bulbs (I wasn't paying attention when told the type - blame the mulled wine!)
As this was done fairly quickly a splinter group set off to plant more bulbs near to the Arts Centre, while the remainder cleared and planted an area on the far side of the subway.
With the task completed we headed off, back through the town centre and Christmas shoppers taking advantage of late night opening.
Back at base we rounded off the evening with a balance & core stability circuit - lots of single leg action to challenge co-ordination as well as balance.
Thanks to all the Colchester Goodgymers for a wonderful evening. Enjoy your festive bash next week and have a magnificent Christmas.
